BAT Certification and BAT Instructor Certification
The first day of the three-day BAT Instructor class certifies students as Breath Alcohol Technicians (BAT), a requirement to be a BAT Instructor. The second two days of training are devoted to preparing students to be BAT instructors. The goal of our training is for each student to have a sound knowledge of the breath alcohol testing instrument, an overall grasp of the DOT rules and regulations relating to alcohol testing, and a grasp of basic adult learning principles so as to be effective BAT Instructors.
Detailed Instructor Manual
Every student receives a complete BAT Instructor Manual with detailed notes on how to present a BAT class in the same way they were trained on the first day of BAT Instructor training. The BAT Instructor Manual is specific to the model instrument on which the student is training, and includes PowerPoint illustrations, suggested exercises, and a wealth of supporting detail including CFR Part 40 regulations. The BAT Instructor Manual not only serves as a detailed guide for presenting a BAT class, but also provides a reference resource to answer questions that typically arise in day-to-day alcohol testing.
Qualifies Instructors to Train Calibration Technicians
Our BAT Instructor classes qualify BAT Instructors to train their staff as Calibration Technicians, in addition to training staff as BATs. Calibration Technician certification is an additional certification required by DOT regulations for those staff who will perform calibration adjustments. Only BAT Instructors with current BAT Instructor certification have the authority to certify staff as Calibration Technicians.
Emphasis on Compliance
AlcoPro is committed to ensuring that students perform alcohol testing and that BAT Instructors conduct training that complies with DOT regulations. AlcoPros training goal is 100% compliance with workplace testing regulations. Our training also emphasizes compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan for the breath testing device. We prepare BAT Instructors for their critical role in training their staff to perform alcohol testing the correct way and in ensuring their agencys compliance with all DOT regulations.
