The Alco-Sensor IV represents the new generation of breath alcohol testing.
By automating many of the steps performed manually in the Alco-Sensor III and Alco-Sensor, the Alco-Sensor IV greatly reduces the chance of operator error in conducting a breath test. Operators can obtain accurate test results time after time. The Alco-Sensor IV accomplishes this with a tiny computer chip. This chip enables the instrument to perform self-diagnostics, display step-by-step operating messages, and display error messages if required.
The most remarkable feature of the Alco-Sensor IV is automatic breath sampling. The instrument senses the breath of the subject, and will produce a test result only when the subject blows hard and long enough into the instrument. The Alco-Sensor IV displays an error messages if the subject does not meet the blowing requirements, and prompts the subject to blow again. A manual override, identical to the system used in the Alco-Sensor III, allows testing of uncooperative subjects or subjects with respiratory disabilities. The subject's test result is temporarily stored in memory, and may be re-displayed by pressing the RECALL button prior to ejecting the mouthpiece.
The operator can quickly confirm the accuracy of the Alco-Sensor IV using the Alcohol Gas Tank. Should the accuracy of the Alco-Sensor IV ever need adjusting, the operator places it in a special calibration mode, uses the Alcohol Gas Tank, and the instrument makes it own internal adjustments |
